Horseback Trekking

Based 30 mins from Dubrovnik and 30 mins from Herceg Novi (passports required if travelling to the riding stables from Montenegro). The riding is suitable for all levels including beginners. All treks are undertaken at walking and trotting pace only due to the rocky terrain. The trekking routes offer a combination of coastal ride and shady forested lanes, passing through local villages and farms. This is a gentle and relaxing way to explore the coastal areas of the Adriatic.

The horses are well schooled and detailed safety instructions and guidance are given prior to leaving the riding school on a trek. All prices include insurance and a light lunch / snack after the ride. Water should be carried and saddle bags are provided for you to put your water in. During the summer months the rides take place in the early morning and early evening to avoid the heat of the day. All clients are required to wear a safety helmet (provided).

In northern Montenegro ponies and horses are still used in some areas as traditional working animals, pulling hay wagons and working the land on small holdings. The remote Sinjajevina Plateau plays host to an annual festival and horse race. Currently there are no organised riding options in the north meeting Black Mountain's requirements however we are working with our local partners and programmes for longer stay riding holidays and day trekking in Montenegro's spectacular interior mountains will be available soon.
